As her student she was generous enough to make me feel far more intelligent than I actually was. As a colleague later on, she was far more challenging! Her clarity of mind and inexhaustible wit were shining attributes, but I admired her most for her astute judgement and having the courage of her convictions. She was a very safe pair of hands in so many ways, and I will miss her terribly.
